Day 9 - December 5, 2015

Captain Phillip asked if we wished a change of itinerary and a visit to Martinique. Barbara had it on her bucket list of places to go, and Rob and Clair speak French so we were all in agreement.

The day was a mix of sight seeing and snorkeling with the clearest water we have seen. We anchored in 32 feet of water and could see the bottom!

The beaches were beautiful and the towns filled with old world charm.

After a bottle of wine and catching up on email it was back to Diamant and swimsuits.

Then we were off snorkeling.

Standing up to clear my mask, I heard 3 young people speaking English. They were from Knoxville, TN, Kansas City, KS, and Eugene, OR.

They are in Martinique teaching English for a year. It was interesting to be this far from home and meet a fellow Oregonian!

After snorkeling we showered and had a wonderful snack of conch fritters.

Afterwards we took a short dinghy ride to another small town with a church right at the end of the dock.

The doors were open and a wedding was going on.

We took a small walk around, Barbara & Clair purchased postcards, and we had a drink on the beach.

Arriving back at the dock, the wedding party was taking photos.

Then, it was back to Diamant for dinner and Chicken Foot dominos.

We were treated to a beautiful sunset on the way back.
