Day 8 - December 4, 2015

Rodney Bay on St. Lucia is an experience on a Friday, but more on that later.

It was also fresh linen & towels and towel art day.

As we left the Marigot Bay we passed the Star Clipper's Royal Clipper.

And rounding the island we saw a Blue Haired Lady cruise ship.

We were not envious of those people in the least.

Enroute, Barbara, Clair & I had the opportunity to take the helm.

Our first stop was the harbor for a bit of shopping and a sampling of the local beer, Piton. Also, a large fleet of yachts was arriving that were participating in the Atlantic Rally Cruise from The Canary Islands to St. Lucia. According to their website, 200 boats participated; so, there was a substantial amount of activity.

Our next adventure was a dinghy ride to Pigeon Island, a public beach and protected area. The water was a bit cloudy; so, the snorkeling was fair. However, the island was quite lovely as were the views.

Then, it was back to Diamant for a shower, snacks & rum swizzles and a beautiful sunset.

The view of town was quite lovely at night as well.

The highlight of the day was the much anticipated Fish Friday, an evening of music and street food. In all honesty, the prices were a bit high and the food quality was a bit low, but the experience was outstanding and we would not have missed it.

Barbara & I split a grilled lobster.

A dinghy ride brought us back to our floating home and a rum nightcap before going off to bed.
